Schools & Colleges Support

Equipping you and your students for the future
As teachers, advisors and educators, we know that you’re working hard to prepare your students for their futures.
We offer activities for your students, virtual guidance events, opportunities to meet us on the road and Continuing Professional Development opportunities for you and your career.
For your students
Our school and college partnerships programme is designed to support high-quality creative provision in schools and colleges across the UK, by offering a wide range of activities and opportunities to support students in their progression; both into Higher Education and into a creative career.
Many of our activities may also help schools and colleges meet their wider priorities in relation to:Â
- Curriculum enhancementÂ
- Raising attainmentÂ
- Raising aspirationÂ
- Contributing to the Gatsby BenchmarksÂ
On-campus activities
We offer campus visits to schools and colleges to provide students with an introduction to university life. Visits typically include campus tours and workshop sessions covering subject areas across visual arts, business, technology and performing arts.Â
All workshops are delivered by our academics or specialist tutors and are supported by our own student ambassadors. Creative workshops give young people the opportunity to enhance their portfolio, develop creative skills and explore disciplines in greater depth.Â
Overnight accommodationÂ
Schools and colleges travelling from further afield may wish to take advantage of overnight accommodation as part of their campus trip. Your regional partnership representative can discuss financial support for travel and accommodation with you.Â
The Falmouth Shows are one of the most anticipated events of our academic calendar. The Shows primarily exhibit the work of final-year students and offer the public a chance to discover a wide range of emerging talent. Â
The Falmouth Shows are during late spring each year. We invite school and college groups to join us on one of our group visit days during this period for a guided tour of the exhibitions. Please contact your regional partnership representative for more information.
We appreciate that it isn’t always easy for students to come and visit us for an Open Day. Financial support may be arranged for individuals who have difficulty in attending Open Days and/or interviews. For more information, see our Falmouth University Travel Fund or discuss this with your regional partnership representative.Â
In-school activities
We offer presentations to cover a range of topics, and these can be tailored for students at all levels, as well as for parents and carers. Our presentations include:Â
Creative careers and progressionÂ
This session seeks to challenge some of the stereotypical thinking around creative careers and raise the aspirations of students studying visual arts, business, technology and performing arts subjects.Â
Personal statement and applicationsÂ
In this masterclass, we’ll provide advice on writing your personal statement and approaching the UCAS application process.Â
Student financeÂ
An introduction to student finance and how it works. Â
Portfolio adviceÂ
Guidance on what to include in your portfolio and how to present it.Â
Falmouth University or a specific industry/courseÂ
This presentation covers university life at Falmouth, courses on offer and what it’s like to study at a creative institution.Â
Â
“My daughter walked through the door on Thursday afternoon after the presentation. Her exact words were that she felt like you were talking about her and that she was the only person you were talking to. Everything you said, from not feeling good enough, other people's thoughts on creative subjects being a waste of time with no job prospects all struck a chord. You said many other things, and they really hit home. I guess you gave her hope.†– A parent speaking about her daughter after creative careers talk from a Falmouth representative.Â
Our team are often able to visit your school or college to deliver a masterclass or guest lecture. This can include course specific talks, advice sessions or subject masterclasses across a wide variety of subject areas.Â
Our regional partnerships team are all experienced educators and advisors who will support your careers and progression event with an information stand, manned by themselves or one of our trained student ambassadors. They’ll be on hand to answer questions about higher education, life as a student and creative pathways.
